Heather Auer was born in Stirling, Scotland and she emigrated to South Africa in 1959. She attended the Ruth Prowse School of Art and various art courses before opening her own Art Studio in Cape Town where she taught and worked for eight years.

Heather moved to Simon's Town in 1996 to open her own Art Gallery and Studio. Her paintings have been chosen by Van Schaik publishers for four book covers in 1995. She has exhibited widely in South Africa and in Oxford UK and her sculpture and paintings are in many private collections worldwide.
