Justine was born in Paris and grew up in France, on the islands of Martinique, Reunion and in Morocco where she was deeply influenced as an artist. Her work reflects dreamlike qualities of the intense colour-palette of European North Africa, its intricate calligraphy and mosaic of ancient symbolism and patterns. Whether figurative or abstract, her paintings inhabit a certain place and tell a personal story – a feast of imagination and emotion.
Her work therefore bonds itself to a wide and enthusiastic
audience. After graduating at the top of her class at the
Atlanta College of Arts she worked as an illustrator for
Harper’s Bazaar in New York City as well as producing illustrations
for the Daily News and New York Times. She moved to San
Francisco where through several galleries and exhibitions
she gained wide recognition as one of the most exciting
young painters there.
| Subsequently
after a year long world tour throughout Asia, South
America, Australia & New Zealand she exhibited her works
from these travels at sell-out shows in San Francisco
and throughout USA and Europe. She is currently painting
oils with collage in the UK where she lives with her
husband, son Leo and latest edition, Batiste. |
